Chris Mahan rounds a corner at the Redmond Derby Crit, in its 75th year, and an annual event in Pacific Northwest. Dennis Crane got the shot, and Matt Hill the best caption. If you haven’t seen Mahan racing before, you may recognize his work for Novara. He designed the For the Love of Bicycles cover from our first magazine issue, and hosted our t-shirt making parties.

My fall back for bike racing, when a doping scandal erupts again, is to focus on what the locals are doing and the amateurs. They’re doing it for the sport, and the love of the bicycle.
