Up in the mountains with a road bike.

If I’m not privy to or at a launch, it doesn’t exist in Hugga’s channels, but my iMessages lit up like a talk-radio switchboard last week with chatter about a new, suspended road bike. And, previously I’ve asked all the insiders I know where’s the response to Trek’s suspension tech, that totally works.

After 25 years of carbon, manufactures know how to tune the ride, and it’s the best time in the long history of the bicycle to be an enthusiast.

There is so much good, great product available now, like the Diverge. And, however it’s done, damping at the 3 touch points is the next development wave, following the aerobike arms race.

White dirt!

For me, the ride is on dirt roads like this….I don’t think my hands or feet should hurt in these conditions. That’s not a necessary type of suffering in the performance category.

There’s a glut of $100k engineers in the economy… automotive and transportation developers know very well how to dampen vibration.

Companies should hire them because it’s such a good time to ride. They’ll have a baseline to work on that will only get better with a little R&D budget thrown at the problem.

Not obvious from the photo, but the Exploro has a damping seatpost.
